In Progress: "Lake Travis Sunset"
Acrylic on 30x40 canvas

This is the largest canvas yet that I have commandered. The inspiration comes from a photo I took at sunset on the porch of the Iguana Grill in July 2007. The hues of oranges and pinks contrasting with the darkness of the foliage and blue shades of the evening clouds intrigues me. The image conjurs up the satisfying feeling of the day's accomplishments while welcoming a well deserved rest from the maddening pace of the world around us. To capture even a glimpse of this fleeting beauty and maintain that feeling is my goal!

"Chisos Mountains"
2007
"En Plein Air": Terlingua, Texas
Acrylic on canvas 20 x 14

In Febuary of 2007 we took a road trip through West Texas ending up at my little sisters house in Terlinqua. Along the way, we were inspired and awed by the magnificient yet rugged beauty of the mountains and deserts. Over every mountain we drove was another AWESOME view... even more spectacular than the one before!
Needless to say, once we arrived in Terlingua, we were awe struck and saturated with the beauty of the desert, cacti and mountains!
This painting was done one morning when we were sitting on my lil sista's front porch admiring the Chisos Mountains that border Big Bend. The morning light kept changing so dramatically...creating new colors every moment. It was at that moment I decided to pull out my portable easel and paints in an effort to capture this beauty. Voila...this is the end result. This painting now holds a place of honor on the wall in our bedroom. I revisit that moment of the majestic grandeur and inspiration of this mountain view every time I see it!!!
